  1. A major factor is vitamin D deficiency. Fear of the bug -> stay indoors -> less exposure to sunlight -> vitamin D deficiency

  2.  @andywatts8654  There’s 7 IU of vitamin D in 100g of mushrooms, so to get 4,000 IU you’d need to eat 57 kgs of mushrooms a day. Good luck with that!

  3.  @ilovedogs2642  Yes, but the RDA/NRV is massively too low due to a statistical error discovered in 2014, so dietary sources and multivitamin pills are too low. Without sunlight you actually need to be taking around 4,000 IU/day.

  6.  @ilovedogs2642  That’s known as a bolus dose and is routinely used for people with an extreme deficiency. Vitamin D takes a long time to be metabolised so it’s the quickest way to fix the problem.
