Suggestion: Around 1970 I remember at school getting a rather lavish set of ‘educational’ materials on the slave trade, with the usual illustrations of how they were accommodated on the ships etc. I’ve often wondered who funded such expensive propaganda and why. (I don’t remember any mention being made of the lengths or costs that the British went to in order to end it all). An investigation into this would be interesting.

Let’s not forget that when Afro Americans returned to Africa and founded their own ethnostate (Liberia), the first thing they did was reinstate slavery of the local indigenous population.

To be fair, Wilberforce had no problem with British children cleaning chimneys or working in mines, he wasn’t always as ‘good’ as he’s portrayed.
