  3. For anyone interested the History Channel is showing a documentary covering this called ‘Tulsa Burning: The 1921 Race Massacre’ scheduled for 30th May. But from the title, and having seen pictures of the directors, and read interviews, I’m not expecting an unbiased account 🤣

  10.  @blkhistorydecoded  The original comment stated that nowhere mentioned the 10 white deaths, this is demonstrably not true for Wikipedia. Deaths are usually pretty accurate because the recording of them is a legal requirement, with multiple copies filed in multiple locations and publicly accessible. You could probably go and read them today if you were researching for a book.

  14.  @grammaticalchainsaw7318  Firstly, you’re in the wrong thread, this is about Hollywood’s biased portrayal of history. But in any case nobody has claimed it was ‘just made up’. However some widely publicised aspects are provenly incorrect. Also, an incident resulting in the deaths of 39 people, 10 of which were white isn’t a ‘race massacre’. A massacre is a large-scale killing of people or animals, especially defenseless ones. The word implies that such a killing was especially unnecessary, brutal, and indiscriminate. Tulsa wasn’t large scale They weren’t defenceless The manner wasn’t brutal It wasn’t indiscriminate

  27.  @WooKs_Books  first hand accounts aren’t ‘drivel’ they are the gold standard for historical research. Just because they contradict your preferred agenda doesn’t make them drivel. The death toll seems pretty low and fairly balanced to me, given the circumstances and certainly shows that they weren’t ‘crazed thugs’.
