Slaves of Arabs were usually castrated. This is probably why they don’t have the problems that America has today.

I suspect the fictional character considered the most romantic of all time, Mr. Darcy in Pride & Prejudice probably inherited his colossal wealth as a result of the ‘slave trade’ and/or compensation from the abolition of it. This would make an interesting video. Tim Harford/‘More or Less’ did an analysis of Darcy’s wealth, it’s astonishing.

@nigelsheppard625 good point, so he didn’t get compensation at the time of the book. However we know: 1) He wasn’t royalty or landed gentry 2) He received his income from investments Please explain how a person in 1820 would have become the 10th richest person in the country while not being landed gentry, in any other way than slavery.
