Within evolutionary experts, Darwin is NOT most famous for his ‘survival of the fittest’ theory, but for his theory of evolution from sexual selection, which was much more controversial and not well publicised (even now). While it’s vaguely credible to see how a taxidermist might deduce some evolutionary theories from similarities in bone structures, sexual selection is behavioural and can only be arrived at by careful and prolonged observation of live animals in their natural habitat, something a taxidermist wouldn’t have, but Darwin is well documented as performing. People promoting the role of a taxidermist are therefore simply revealing their ignorance of Darwin’s more significant findings - which is pretty typical of today’s ’journalism’.
