Slightly disingenuous report. The 2.5x density means you can EITHER use 60% less fluid OR 60% less height, NOT both.

@bigfishoutofwater3135 The effects of being slightly nearer the centre of the Earth are insignificant, but you’re welcome to show us your calculations… …you have done them, right?

Don’t you mean ‘Solar Freakin Roadways’ ? 🤣🤣🤣

You’re welcome to show us your efficiency calculation… …oh wait, you haven’t done one, or have a clue how to do one.

Sadly this is just another grant harvesting boondoggle dreamt up by a clueless academic that will burn through $millions until it’s eventually abandoned like all the others.

Yes it uses more energy to pump back up. If you think you have one that doesn’t, you need help urgently.

There’s a tidal system in France. The U.K. could make one in the Severn estuary. Environmentalists hate them because they disrupt the local ecosystem.

@grzegorzkapica7930 So you STILL haven’t done the calculations then 🙄
1
Flywheels are extremely expensive compared to simply using batteries. Go lookup the Siemens system in Ireland.
1
@ValidatingUsername Concrete block power storage is nonsense. Go do the calculations.
1
You clearly have ZERO understanding of the energy density of this device. (Extremely low)
1
@chonkusdonkus The report implied you could do BOTH, you can’t. Do keep up 007.

You realise 2 kWh costs around 50 cents right?

My guess is a diatomaceous earth like ‘Fuller’s Earth’ (used in cat litter and oil drilling mud).

The simple fact is ALL gravity storage systems are nonsense. Pumped hydro only works because it takes advantage of a naturally occurring medium (water) and people don’t kick up quite so much fuss when you flood a remote area with it.
1
Pretty much all gravity systems are blatant nonsense apart from pumped hydro.

The total mass being lifted back up is the same regardless of the state it’s in.
