  3. Anybody interested in getting into IT... 1) Don’t 2) No really, don’t Still here ?... A) Get access to a PC B) Get a book on Java from a library or downloaded from somewhere C) Start That’s it, there’s no magic, you don’t need ‘code camps’, you don’t need certificates. Just be reasonably smart (120+) and put in the work. You’ll need around 1,000 hours to get a bottom level job, then work your way up. Be aware, you will need to carry on learning your ENTIRE life, but it’s better paid than washing dishes and not particularly physically demanding.

  5. For anyone interested in these issues, I suggest you watch ‘Eli the Computer Guy’. He does ramble a bit so you’re going to have to watch around 40 hours, but you’ll get the idea.

  6.  @Dockhead  I clearly stated: Do around a thousand hours studying and then get a BOTTOM level job in IT and work your way up. I did NOT say to study for 13 years. You’re welcome to get certificates if you want to, in my experience they’re worthless, just DO THE JOB.
