@JohnSmith-ug5ci No, I’ve done the calculations for myself. The ‘lie’ was that they’re 5x more efficient. This is only true if you’re in an area with lots of renewable electricity. Like I said, for coal it’s around double. These figures are for the U.K. A coal fired power station has emissions of 850g per kWh. Transmission losses are 2%. So 867g per kWh at the wall socket. Tesla charging losses are 4%. So 903g per kWh in the battery. A Tesla-3 does 4 miles per kWh. So 226g per Mile. A diesel car has Emissions of 7440/mpg in g per Km. So a diesel car doing 30mpg emits 248g per Km. 248g per Km = 397g per mile. The break-even point for diesel vs coal is 53mpg. Gas produces 500g per kWh so the break-even for diesel is then 90mpg. If you have alternative figures, you’re welcome to provide them.

Go away troll, Tesla are already producing 4680s, you obviously didn’t listen to the earnings call.
2
Please provide your evidence that Tesla battery packs are “starting to have concerns”. Note that packs penetrated by a bullet fired from inside the car isn’t a credible concern.
2
Everyone can see you’re a troll, go away.

As a ‘mechanical engineer’ I thought you’d know that a ‘labyrinth’ pattern wouldn’t have the strength and rigidity of closed cell triangles 🤔 But then I’ve seen your other comments and you’re a clueless troll.
1
@Tore_Lund That could work, you’d just have to watch out for too much turbulence being generated. And I don’t think you could cast it, you’d have to do some machining after molding.
1
You can’t put coolant channels inside an individual cell. Cell size is a compromise between power capacity that increases with volume, and thermal cooling which increases with surface area. I’m guessing they ran the numbers to produce the 4680. They aren’t going to getting any bigger.
1
EVs are more efficient that ICE, even when the electricity is generated from coal the emissions are around half that from an ICE car. Gas is better, and nuclear, solar and wind have none.
1
I’m guessing it would be covered, they left it off so you could see it.
1
@twany442 well done, you just proved you don’t have any. You really are clueless.
1
@twany442 you’re the one making the irresponsible claim. I hope they’re paying you well.
1
@twany442 One incident in over 1,400,000 cars doesn’t seem like a problem to me. You’re a clueless troll.
1
@twany442 You’re welcome to provide evidence of injuries to firemen... ...oh wait, there haven’t been any.
1
@twany442 s So you don’t like being exposed as clueless then? Shame. Maybe you should stop posting nonsense then?
1
@twany442 What part of over 1,400,000 cars have been produced do you not understand? Petrol cars burn out all the time. And upvoting you’re own comments is hilariously pathetic.
1
@twany442 You’re a total shill, you aren’t fooling anybody.
1
@twany442 I’m well aware of the shill media who get advertising from all the big car manufacturers apart from Tesla waging a propaganda war against them and EV cars in general. The fact that you’re taken in by it all indicates that you’re either clueless or a paid troll. Repeating multiple stories about the same event just shows the world how desperate you are. You’re hilariously bad at this. I think they’ll fire you when they see this.
1
@corpierro Except everyone can see Tesla are ahead. And you’ve flooded the comments with anti-Tesla propaganda. So you’re either clueless or a paid troll. The choice is yours.
1
I haven’t noticed ‘fire authorities’ demanding such mechanisms inside petrol tanks 🤔
1
iPhone batteries are glued, I haven’t noticed the EU complaining.
1
Please provide your calculations for the amount of UV reflected off the pavement onto the underside of a car.
1
@crimsondecade7420 Reflectivity of UV off pavement materials is typically less than 20%. You’re clueless.
1
I agree someone should, but I think Sandy’s a bit busy at the moment.
1
I have to observe that I’m astonished at the army of bots and trolls in the comments, desperate to attack Tesla and EVs with the most clueless of claims. The ICE car manufacturers must be getting desperate. When you’re getting flak, it’s because you’re over the target.
