Hydrogen is STILL hopelessly inefficient regardless, you lose 30% liquefying it and fuel cells are another 50%.

@nickmcconnell1291 Except hydrogen forms molecules of H2 while Helium is an inert gas and remains as single atoms. Helium escapes containment (leaks) more than hydrogen. The problem with hydrogen is it’s highly reactive, damages it’s containment and escapes that way.

@docwatson1134 ammonia is hopeless, it’s worse than hydrogen.

@ozgurtoraman980 So you’re proposing transporting hydrogen to people’s houses and storing it there? (You can’t use any existing gas pipes because hydrogen would destroy them and leak).

@mnhsty I already have, it’s utter nonsense.

@johnmaitel351 Excellent point, Power to Gas (PtG) is currently around 76% efficient in trials so this new process to produce the hydrogen should improve on that. Thanks for the reference.

@nobilismaximus I’ve already agreed that, do keep up 007.

@Rainbowhawk1993 Methane will be the lightest molecule used for planes, likeliest is kerosene for long haul and all electric up to 400 miles.
