  1. While you’re correct about normal viruses that slowly mutate to be less lethal. That’s not very useful for new engineered viruses that haven’t yet had the time to mutate to safer forms.

  3. Wuhan was also working on gain-of-function research with MERS (camel flu). Normally it’s virtually impossible for humans to catch it, but it does have a mortality rate of 30% when they do. If that gets out we’ll be literally knee-deep in dead bodies 😳
