  1. As a rocker and a guy, never cared much for ballads like this, used to kind of cringe when forced to listen to them (most of the girls back then were crazy about songs like this). But take away the vocals (nothing against the vocal talent displayed), and I did like the instrumental part of this particular song, as the jazz progressions were kind of mellow and soothing, yet uplifting. Of course, like you, never imagined, understood, or appreciated the complexity of the composition of this song.
