  3. Those informed and objective back then didn't idolize Giuliani; he got as much wrong with 9/11 as he got right, ditto for his tenure as mayor of NYC. Media played a huge role hyping and elevating Giuliani--something also true for his associate, Trump. It isn't a matter of "hating" either person or any ideology; rather, it's simply a matter of recognizing them lacking in the requisite character and integrity expected for holding high public office.  Additionally, there was an overall recognition of the toxicity of their politics, as well as a likelihood for harm to the nation if elected because of their personal failings.  Also recognized Trump and Giuliani not very knowledgeable about the issues, nor able to offer rational domestic or foreign policy platforms dealing with the challenges facing America. However, these latter objections essentially irrelevant in evaluating both men, anyway, since their personal deficiencies had already clearly marked them unfit.
