@David-infantryst ~ Cops lie, Blacks die. Have witnessed police brutality, racial profiling, and excessive force firsthand, although not as the victim. Have also witnessed police deliberately lying about their wrongful actions, or to justify them. Resisting arrest is not in and of itself sufficient cause for police murdering a person in cold blood, anyway, Doc.
There's good cops and bad cops, but the police culture, police unions, and a critical lack of accountability is a sure-fire recipe for bad policing. It's why police are increasingly required to wear body cams, to protect both them and the public. It's why we need independent investigators and prosecutors dedicated to holding police accountable. And it's why we need other reforms in policing, including using money in far more effective and cost-effective ways to reduce crime, so that less money needs to be spent on policing, and police are better able to do their jobs, benefiting both the public and law enforcement.

@David-infantryst ~ Better re-check those statistics, Doc, because you're being misled by the nose with a trick as old as the hills. It's not the total number that matters; it's the proportionate number. There are far more Whites than Blacks in this country, so--naturally--there will of course be more Whites killed by police. Are you that gullible and ignorant to fall for that old, well-known trick, or are you deliberately being dishonest?
Are you denying that police lie to cover their wrongdoing? Are you denying that police racially profile? Are you denying that police abuse their authority? Are you denying that police use excessive force? Are you denying that police plant evidence? Are you denying that police inappropriately escalate situations? Are you denying that police are guilty of unjustified shootings? Are you denying police have used so-called "throw-down" weapons to incriminate and justify a suspect wrongly shot or killed? Are you denying that there are bad cops?
You're also cherry-picking, not responding to all the points and arguments. Like your previous logical fallacy argument about resisting arrest, you are being disingenuous and not operating in good faith. Why is that? Don't think it's because you're of mixed race, as you claim. If you are or were a member of the military, as your moniker suggests, your dishonesty is a disgrace and poor reflection upon both you and our armed services, making one wonder if you were not guilty yourself of some atrocity or atrocities. You may just want to ponder on that.

And without time limits, what would happen? Would Republicans quit their theatrics? No. Would Republicans filibuster and obstruct even more egregiously than they have been? Yes. Would much of anything get accomplished in Congress, with a simple confirmation of a cabinet appointee taking weeks, months, perhaps years? No. It's why Democrats changed Senate rules to prevent Republican filibustering for judicial appointments (although not SCOTUS nominees, which the Republicans later changed Senate rules, requiring only a simple majority instead of 60 votes to get far-right Neil Gorsuch on the bench after blocking Obama's pick, mainstream Merrick Garland, for nearly a year until Obama's term ended, leaving the seat open in hopes of a Republican winning the Presidency). Also, just to point out, the nominee here was accused of filibustering by Scuzzy Cruz, but that simply wasn't true. If anything, it looked more like Cruz filibustering with the nominee and Chairman Durbin, in fact.

"Call this civic barbarism. Instead of promoting the values of responsible citizenship, Trump, Republican leadership, and their media enablers have elevated and blessed the very worst among us. They are making many Americans less suited for self-government and more dangerous to their neighbors. And they are doing so for the reason some of the Founders most feared: To lead the mob against true democracy."
~ Michael Gerson, from 'Trumpism is American Fascism'
(NOTE: Gerson is a staunch life-long conservative, who served as former President George W. Bush's chief speech writer.)
"Until Republicans return to reality and become responsible, they should not be trusted with power again."
That's been obvious for some time, the same warning others like me have been advocating, but it's good that Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney is amplifying that message. More Americans need to understand this.
The constant lies, denials, deceits, delusions, gaslighting, dog-whistles, crackpot conspiracy theories, projectionism, Whataboutism, jingoism, bogus victimhood, and hypocrisy of Republicans is disgusting and alarming. Republicans have been programmed into a mindless fascist partisan cult that is unhinged, delusional and evil. The Republican cult has poisoned itself with its own propaganda, choosing to live in a dystopian fascist Orwellian fantasy world. The Republican cult has been radicalized to such extent that it poses a clear and present danger to our society, our democracy, our country, and the world.
They're essentially a domestic terrorist group, and we should be targeting the leaders of that group with the same vigor and determination we would a foreign terrorist group attacking our country. Don't know of a time since the Civil War when our nation has been at greater peril, and we need to recognize that, acknowledge it, and act upon it accordingly.

Elmer Fudd's always trying to convince me he just wants unity.
What he really means is that he wants to eat me.
When the truth is divisive, then there can be no unity. Unity and compromise is a two-way street that only works if both parties operate in good faith. Republicans have a long history of failing to do that--or even trying. Recent history since Biden won the election shows no indication of them changing their divisive, destructive words, attitudes, obstruction and other acts. Tyrant Trump incited a terrorist insurrection against the nation's Capitol to overthrow an election, endangering his VP and members of Congress, sat by and gleefully reveled in watching it happen for hours, ignoring desperate pleas for help from Congressional Republicans forced to flee for their lives, and only a very few Republican were willing to speak out, impeach him, convict him, and prevent him from holding public office again? That's not loyal opposition--that's a dangerous terrorist political cult of fascists.

@David-infantryst ~ So, Doc, whether or not you realized it, you've just confirmed your dishonesty and lack of good faith! You're also conflating things in an attempt to rationalize wrongful cop killings and your own dishonesty. You're still cherry-picking, still not responding to all the points and arguments, still being disingenuous and, now, trying to politicize the issue on top of everything else. As for black-on-black killings, that was already addressed with allocating resources more wisely to reduce crime. You evidently didn't ponder upon how you're disgracing yourself, your unit, and our armed services--or you just don't care. We're guessing it's the latter. No wonder you're defending bad cops--you're just like them! Perhaps you're even one of them!

"Without accountability, an attempted autogolpe or insurrection is just practice."
"What happened on January 6 is the very definition of sedition." ~ Former Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson
Why has Traitor Trump not been charged yet by the DOJ? That's what a lot of people are wondering! Not just prosecution of Trump, but all his accomplices, too! Obstruction charges outlined in the Mueller Report, the Ukraine extortion racket, inciting an insurrection, sedition, and federal election interference. The evidence is all in plain sight, where are the indictments, the arrests? Our democracy hangs in the balance; this is no time to play nice, there is no time to waste! The DOJ shouldn't be worried about appearances, either, because it's a matter of impartially enforcing the law and not setting bad precedent that encourages future lawlessness and authoritarianism by the Executive Branch. And because justice matters.
