@shawnr771 ~Appreciate that you wish to end the filibuster and gridlock in D.C., but like the game of chess, luck has nothing to do with it----it's all about logic and survival. Right now, the Republicans have the Democrats in check. If the Democrats don't find a way to get out of check, it's checkmate and game over for both the Democrats and our democracy.

Congressional Republicans just proved--once again--they are unwilling to operate in good faith, first in the House, now in the Senate, unwilling to even pass a BIPARTISAN commission to investigate the January 6 insurrection! How many times does Lucy have to pull the football out at the last minute before Charlie Brown Manchin finally wises up? New voting rights protections sorely needed in the wake of new Republican Jim Crow legislation nationwide, a badly needed infrastructure and jobs bill, and numerous other pieces of critical legislation the Democrats want to pass don't stand a chance if the filibuster is allowed to stand. If Republicans are going to abuse the filibuster, then it's time to LOSE THE FILIBUSTER!!!

Silly Sinema and Charlie Brown Manchin pretend not to understand the carrot and stick approach and how effective it can be. The want to neuter the Senate Democrats by taking away the stick, deliberately obtuse that Republicans in Congress haven't been acting in good faith for many, many years, that they have no desire for bipartisanship, and that there is no incentive for them to change. Both ignore how Republicans ended the filibuster for SCOTUS nominees, and would eliminate it altogether in a heartbeat if found to their advantage. Silly Sinema and Charlie Brown Manchin care more about holding onto power and their own personal interests than their constituents and the good of the country.

@DonaBlancas ~ You mean, we fear it will end in MORE violence. We must never forget the fascist terrorist insurrection of January 6 against our nation's Capitol. Nor should we forget all the other Reich-wing violence prior to that that Traitor Trump and Republicans incited. However, there will be no race war or new Civil War, as the geographical dispersion of Democrats and Republicans, whites and blacks is now too interspersed among communities and states. Nor should anyone EVER wish for such; the Civil War was the most costly war in U.S. history, may it never be repeated. Besides, war should always be viewed as a failure. The bottom line is that fascist Republicans are cowards. That is why they cling to their guns so desperately, because they got no balls. What we are likely to see is more Reich-wing domestic terrorism, which will only further discredit the GOP.

@shawnr771 ~ What nefarious things could Republicans do if the filibuster were abolished that they haven't already been doing? Republicans are only interested in obstruction and gridlock, so if the primary tool they use to accomplish that is taken away, they will only be rendered less harmful and forced into good faith bipartisanship. That's a good thing. And if Republicans decide to start tearing down the Senate and our legislative branch in retaliation as Moscow Mitch has threatened, they will only further marginalize the GOP, turning more of the public away from them. Democrats need to call their bluff...if they wish to stay in the game.
