Yeah, let's not abolish the filibuster because of it's racist history, which is being further perpetuated by not abolishing it! That's the warped logic of people like Charlie Brown Manchin and Silly Sinema.

Congressional Republicans just proved--once again--they are unwilling to operate in good faith, first in the House, now in the Senate, unwilling to even pass a BIPARTISAN commission to investigate the January 6 insurrection! Then, they filibustered EVEN debating the We the People Act, which has broad public support among both Democrats and Republicans! How many times does Lucy have to pull the football out at the last minute before Charlie Brown Manchin and Silly Sinema finally wise up? New voting rights protections sorely needed in the wake of new Republican Jim Crow legislation nationwide, a badly needed infrastructure and jobs bill, and numerous other pieces of critical legislation Democrats want to pass don't stand a chance if the filibuster is allowed to stand. If Republicans are going to abuse the filibuster, then it's time to LOSE THE FILIBUSTER!!!

It's a game of asymmetrical warfare the Republicans are playing, as they don't care if they burn the government down if they can't have minority rule, while Democrats value democracy----win or lose----and want to make government work for the American people. It's clear that this situation with Republicans isn't something Democrats want or with which they are comfortable, but find themselves forced to deal with as best they can. I do fault Democrats like Charlie Brown Manchin and Silly Sinema, who want to play pretend that the situation is normal, when it's more than obvious that Republicans are unwilling to operate in good faith or practice bipartisanship in any serious way, and the GOP is embracing nihilism and fascism. Both Congressional Democrats and Garland's DOJ need to start playing hardball, or we may not have a democracy for much longer. They urgently need to hold those most responsible for January 6 to account, protect the voting franchise, and deliver for the American people. There is no time to waste.

Who'd have ever equated voting in America with survival? But that's pretty much what it has boiled down to, hasn't it? Survival of ourselves, survival of our democracy, survival of our nation, and survival of our planet. The irony is that Republicans have always tried to paint Democrats as an existential threat...but in doing so it is actually they who have become exactly that. Democrat voters need an even greater turnout in '22 and '24, put the final fork in Trumpism! Republicans want to engage in Jim Crow voter suppression laws, voter intimidation, and egregious gerrymandering? Republicans want to engage in corruption, gaslight their corruption, coverup their corruption? Republicans want to turn a blind eye to Russian election interference and knowingly disseminate Russian propaganda for Putin? Republicans want to instigate and sanction Reich-wing domestic terrorist insurrection? Republicans want to live in delusion and denial about the major problems confronting the nation and planet? Let's just prove that's fuel for the fire, and make their fascist antidemocratic corruption backfire on them!

Manchin does not represent his constituents, does not represent Democrats. Instead he is knowingly and willingly fueling the cynicism Americans have about Congress and our government, destroying our cherished institutions he falsely claims to be protecting, while betraying his oath of office. Americans don't want gridlock in D.C.; they want actions that improve our lives and nation! Moreover, nobody is buying Manchin's excuse that this is about bipartisanship, given that Republicans have repeatedly demonstrated that they have no sincere interest in bipartisanship, nor any willingness to operate in good faith. We all see clearly that Manchin is putting his own self-interest before the what is best for the country, and what is the point of him getting reelected if he's just promoting and perpetuating gridlock in Washington?
