You see how all those police turned away, forming a circle around the police beating the handcuffed suspect who was on the ground and not resisting? That was so their body cams wouldn't record the brutal beating by police, and to shield it from view from any spectators. Every officer there was complicit in those two beatings. Why did no police officer there arrest another of their fellow officers for assault and battery? Why did no officers there stop the melee? Why did officers allow other police officers to unjustly go after and brutally beat a spectator filming the police crimes? Because every officer there was complicit in those crimes. They should all be charged, and they should all never be allowed to work in law enforcement in any capacity again. They should also all be cited in civil suits brought against them for violation of the victim's civil rights. Only five officers charged with misdemeanor battery? That isn't justice. That's a slap on the wrist and a travesty of justice. Positively sickening.

@MichaelGiordano777 ~ That's an excellent point! Laws were being broken by those beating the handcuffed suspect, and other officers had a sworn duty to stop them and arrest those fellow officers. By protecting them instead of doing their job, it amounts to obstruction. Also, did they voluntarily give testimony of the crimes to superiors and/or a prosecutor after the incident? When questioned by investigators and prosecutors, have they been forthcoming and truthful about the crimes they witnessed by fellow officers? It seems to me those are also forms of obstruction of justice.

@mervyngreene6687 ~ Exactly----they acted like a pack of wild hyenas, or a school of piranha fish, attacking and assaulting an already subdued handcuffed suspect laying on the ground, each trying to snag a bite. There was clearly more than five police officers guilty of physical assaulting the suspect and the innocent bystander, but it wasn't all of them. I'm fairly certain "complicit" and "accomplice" means the same thing in every state. Being complicit in a crime makes one an accomplice. And it is also quite clear from these videotapes that all of the officers there were active accomplices in allowing other police to unnecessarily assault and beat the two men. They obviously weren't honoring their oath to "protect and serve," that's for damn sure. What should also be obvious is these police----together as a group----were acting as judge, jury, and executioner. And that should not, MUST NOT, be tolerated or allowed in a civilized society. It should not tolerated or allowed anywhere in America. These were blatant violations of the suspect's and onlooker's civil rights, and all of those police present must be held accountable----not just a few of the worst offenders. Police should be held to a higher standard, not a lower one, but too often it is a lower standard to which they are held, to the detriment of our society, our communities, and our nation. And, yes, is is even also to the detriment of our law enforcement agencies and their personnel.

@mervyngreene6687 ~ I don't think the media is asking the right questions, ignoring the involvement of all police involved in these assaults and civil rights violations. There are different levels of criminal involvement distinguished under the law, which is only just. For example, if one bank robber shoots the teller, anyone else complicit in the bank robbery goes down as accomplices to murder. The charges against any accomplices aren't quite as severe and the penalties aren't quite as stiff as the person actually pulling the trigger, though. There would be justice served by charging all police present that were complicit as accomplices to the crimes committed. And the corollary objective to which was alluded in the comment that none of those officers are fit to serve in law enforcement and should therefore be permanently banned would be accomplished with their convictions as accomplices.

@GeSta1967 ~ Excellent summation, which reflects my own feeling on this matter! The DA isn't doing their job----instead they are working to gaslight and cover-up the complicity of other officers. The behavior by both DA and police perpetuates injustice, violates their oaths of office, and destroys public confidence in our law enforcement and justice systems. This is why each state needs a totally separate division of police detectives and DA's whose sole responsibility is to investigate any and all complaints and prosecute police wrongdoing.

@bds3919 ~ They say police are held to a higher standard, but we see that's just BS! Sure, I value good law enforcement, believe they need to be protected with stricter laws for offenses committed against them. But there should also likewise be stricter enforcement and stricter penalties on the books for when police commit crimes. Then, they truly would be held to a higher standard. And they would be more duly compelled to honor that higher standard.
