  1. Another "fake Shemp" example, although with no deaths associated: the overly flamboyant 007 parody "Casino Royal" (1967). Orson Wells and Peter Sellers HATED each other so much they could NOT be on the set at the same time! During their card game scene both actors filmed on different days playing to a seen-only-from-the-back double!

  2. Marilyn Monroe had to work with a "fake Shemp" during her last film! While filming The Misfits co-star Clark Gable died before some essential scenes were completed. Rather than shelve the whole project- the studio had way to much $$$ riding on it!- Monroe played to a double shot only from the back while a Clark Gable impersonator read the remaining dialog.
