Also Bush did not decide to use DU in Iraq. DU was used in anti tank and anti material munitions because that's what the US intended to use against Soviet tanks, APC's IFV's & vehicles in Europe. So if Desert Storm took place in Germany, the US A-10's, AH-64's and M1 tanks would have been using DU rounds in Germany.

@Rake3577 The Turks are not East of the Euphrates. They are in the north where they've driven out the local Kurdish population and moved in pro Turkish Arabs and prevented the local Kurds from returning to their homes.

No Progressive Laws in California? California passed a law that made what was a legal item when it was purchased illegal and the owner has to either turn it in to the police, destroy it or send it out of state, all at the owners expense. And this is after they taxed the owner when he purchased it, licensed it passed the background checks for it. Boy if you think that I'd hate to see what you think if California ever switched to Republican. BTW you need 67 votes in the Senate and 290 votes in the House to pass this should it ever become a law Otherwise you're just blowing hot air.

And do you remember why Bush opted to leave Sadaam in power? It was to avoid creating a power vacuum that would create a pro-Iranian state as well as avoiding a long protracted insurgency and occupation. In hindsight, he was right.

@paulsommerhalder9049 The mistake would have been to continue on to Baghdad. On this board we have people caterwauling about the poor Iraqi soldiers that we "massacred" as they retreated. Imagine their screams if we had gone on and did that throughout Iraq, hunting down and killing in detail every single Iraqi Army unit down to the squad level?

@thejimmydoreshow It's what the US did in the Kurdish area of Iraq. Remember the time when at the end of Desert Storm the Iraqi Army sent helicopter gunships to attack Kurdish refugees in Iraqi Kurdistan? We established a No-Fly zone in the north and with US protection they managed to establish a stable democratic government.
