Look up Joe "Hoser" Satrapa, he's the guy who's F-14 HUD tape had his gun crosshair planted on the pilot's helmet of an F-15 he was fighting. He's also the guy who took his F-14A (the one with the problematic engine) on a 1v2 fight against USAF F-15's. The guy who after he managed to shoot off his thumb, had the surgeon sew his big toe to his hand so he could keep flying. Then there's Dale Snodgrass, who's ex RIO has a tape of them getting 3 "guns" kills, in a single multi bandit engagement against F-5 aggressors. Again F-14A

The F/A-18D and F (the two seat variants) do not have flight controls in the back as far as I know. The controls in the back seat are for the radar and other things

@MaxAfterburnerusa The last plane that a new pilot flies that has dual controls are the TA-4 and now the T-45. Been that way since the Navy F-4's. Your first flight in the F/A-18 will be as the passenger while you IP talks you through what he/she's doing. then you land, switch places and they give you instructions from the back while you fly. The 2 seat F/A-18's are the designated FAC-A birds since NAVY doctrine mandates that one person flies the plane while the Forward Air Control focus' on the mission of managing and directing the air support assets.
