  13.  @ashaqhussain6902  The US didn't actually. Most of the Taliban were in Pakistan or in the mountains, their leaders dead, in jail or Pakistan. Trump had to get their #2 out of jail so they could have someone to sign a peace treaty. As to Vietnam, We were negotiating a peace deal in Paris with Hanoi who said that the concessions were not enough and demanded better terms. So the US launched one of the largest bombing campaigns of the war. Hanoi came back to Paris and accepted the terms of the deal.
