  1. To "warm" relations with Russia, we would have to abandon our European allies. And since we trade with Europe more than we do with Russia and Russia's current activities, Russia can go pound sand. Russia is a 3rd world economy with a semi modern military.

  2. The Chinese have bases in the interior, true, but they don't have enough aircraft with the range to hit anything past 200 miles of their land border. That requires tankers, a lot of tankers. It also requires pilots who have enough flight time so they can train, and they don't. The average US Air Guard (Former USAF or Navy pilots who are now flying in the Air Guard on weekends) has more flight time than your average front line Chinese pilot. And all major US bases have an ABM system available on site.
