As to "nutrient rich seed pods", trees have been seeding for millions of years without that. The reason it takes so long to plant a tree is because they want to plant trees with a specified distance between them. Nature has no such restriction. Put a couple million tree seeds into a spreader put it inside a C-130 and fly the the Herc over the target area and start seeding. Repeat as needed.
