  1. Here in Nigeria, our president, upon his election, made some drastic economic reforms like ending our fuel subsidies and currency subsidies. No other politicians were willing to do this and it caused .assive backlash and increased costs but it was very necessary since we were spending too much Honestly, i see the reason behind Trump's tariffs plans. They are partly an economic bargaining chip and also a long-term plan to remodel the economy that will lead to temporary hardship but long-term improvement.

  2. Styx, as a Nigerian, I really appreciate your objective coverage of this situation in west Africa. You were one of the few westerners who talked of it months ago and even warned how it would be bad for our region. France deserves criticism but that is not enough to support military dictatorship. Many Africans online and some westerners actually think we all support these coups but most of us don't because we know how it leads to more insecurity, economic hardship and destroys democracy here. Already islamic insurgency has increased in the countries with coups and it's a threat to my own country.

I am Nigerian and I see so many other Africans saying how it's good that the French are being expelled yet also ignoring how it's a military coup that did it. This is going to end badly. For all the issues with the French, they are the only stabilizing hand in that unstable country.

  12. I agree. At least Vietnam was salvaged afterwards. The communist government largely dropped all the hardline pretenses and they mended diplomatic relations with America and have also embraced more free market economic policies. Plus, they have maintained their anti-CCP stance since and are one of America's allies against China. Afghanistan never had any chance in hell of becoming a modern state or even sustainable for nation building. It was a fools errand to even try.

We deal with Islamic terrorists and other extremist groups attacking and kidnapping innocent civilians here and our military shows them no mercy. Maybe in your part of the world, it is normal to let evil doers get away with it but normal countries don't act like that. Civilian casualties are unfortunate in war but not always avoidable.

  15. I hope the South Africans find the help they need🙏Here in Nigeria, there's a lot of white South African and White Zimbabwean folks who come here for business and even farming. It sounds unreal but we tend to attract a lot of foreigners and even have a large Chinese and Indian community here. They integrate well and do well since they don't have to worry about some incompetent governments stealing their property. As a kid, I actually knew a white guy from Zimbabwe. His family were farmers who, unfortunately, lost their lands to Mugabe but he never had any ill will towards us other Africans and he was a cool guy. We bonded over Star Wars😊 He now lives in the UK with his family. I also met a black Zimbabwean as an adult. He was an industrial engineer but he and his wife had to flee due to political persecution by Mugabe's party since they supported the opposition. Thankfully, he emigrated to Canada where he works in the trades now.

At least Israel actually gives forewarning and alerts civilians before attacks. Much more than Hamas will ever do. Israel should definitely do more to reduce civilian casualties but at least they are trying unlike the "freedom fighters"

  29. Here in Nigeria, back during the 2020 election, many of us were actually supportive of Trump. Let that sink in. We actually saw him as a better leader since throughout his administration, no foreign wars or destabilization occured. Plus, he actually improved diplomatic relations with our government, especially after obama (yes, Obama is not very popular in much of Africa) ruined things.

  35.  @mysticmama_3692  not really. If I am not mistaken, in the USA, your government had decades of prolonged war with the Native Americans and horrible atrocities were committed by both sides. What eventually stopped it was when the US government defeated the more hostile tribes militarily and the others sued for peace and eventually accepted concessions from America and even assimilated into the USA.

We have literally been pushing back against Boko Haram and ISIS here with more success than most other African countries in ECOWAS. It's strange this person actually thinks of my military as inept.
