Me: Reads thumbnail Me: WB is clearly doing something write if the broken woke and unprofitable animation industry hates them.

@cosmicspacething3474 ANime and cal arts are nothing similar. Also, the other reason is simply due to the fact that Cal-arts has the taint of woke identity politics attached to it. Most of the shows made with the Cal-arts style or the artists/producers who were from that school are more activist than animators. ANime does not have this problem. In their industry, you make something for entertainment and marketability or for fan/niche appeal.

@acat5338 I am sympathetic after reading this but I need to ask, where were all the animators and storyboard workers and others when activists were making western animation unprofitable and divisive? This current wave of cancellations and laying off was inevitable.

Respect to you, friend.

Wait! SO 12 eps a season for anime was not akways the norm? I am surprised. I am relatively new to anime (i only got into anime and manga in 2021) so this surprises me.

@acat5338 oh, this actually explains a lot. Thanks for the info, friend.

@ezyglide0909 Oh, i see what you mean. Good observation on the re-using animation assets thing. Another thing I forgot to mention in how anime and Cal-arts are different is the unhealthy degree of nepotism in Cal-arts. Sure, even in the anime industry there is some nepotism there but by and large, in there most people get promoted or even hired based on meritocracy and marketability, even without connections. Conversely, with Cal-arts, as was seen during the heyday of Steven Universe and Adventure time, the majority of animators hired and shows greenlit were done either because the producer of Adventure time knew someone from tumblr or they shared similar ideological views or at worse, were intimately involved with each other. It's also why most of the shows were unmarketable and also felt like derivatives of each other.

I am relatively new to anime so I will definitely look the show up. Lord knows I need better entertainment than all the woke crap in the west.
