Short and long answer is no. The Middle East has always ALWAYS been a hotbed of instability long before Israel (morern state) existed. This is due to the poor clinate, geography and sociocultural makeup of the region. Plus, the people in that region are more focused on fighting each other. That being said, it is also not so significant on geopolitical fron as to cause a world war. The resources (oil) and routes (silk road) are no longer as significant as they once were and it has been increasingly bypassed by other areas. The only "wars" there will likely be proxy wars but not much else. If any region would start a world war, it woumd be East or South Asia.

@Crysalis-bd9so you are right that Islam is one factor but I don't view it as a major one, rather, culture is a bigger one. Turkey is largely Muslim but their culture was one that embraced modernity, liberalism (to a degree), democracy, capitalism and tolerance. That is what has made them one of the few Muslim countries that are doing well economically and socially and politically and have good future prospects. The middle east, on the other hand, continues to regress socioeconomically, culturally, demographically, and has instability because of their culture.

@thinkpolhub The middle east made one mistake regarding Islam. They refused to embrace modernity and make necessary sociocultural reforms when they were outpacing the Christian west. During the golden age, under Harun al-Rashid, the middle east made great economic, technological, and other strides but a backlash by the orthodox Islamic sects quashed these reforms and caused the culture to regress and that still plagues them till today
