Is anyone surprised by this? Peter Zeihan called this a while back. There were so many loudmouths online screaming how it's the "end of US dollar and US dominance!" Yet BRICS countries had many members who were already trading with America than with each other, had no long-term unifying goals amongst themselves, and still used the dollar. They even invited my country, Nigeria, to join BRICS but thankfully our politicians rejected it cause even we aren't dumb enough to walk away from the better relationship with the west to be in union with countries like South Africa that hate us. This whole joke of an organization was just symbolic pettiness. It never stood a chance.
