As a Nigerian-immigrant currently working and schooling in North America, I have come to one conclusion: Social Justice, wokeness and progressivism can ONLY exist in a developed, liberal and first-world nation/region where there are very few existential threats and where the purposeless masses in urban areas have to create some form of ideology to fill the void in their lives. Imagine being offended by a field of cotton! A cash crop grown on almost every country on earth! That is why it makes no sense and destroys that society.   2. As a Nigerian it never ceases to amaze me when some black Americans (I know not all of them are woke) deify and prop up the worst elements of their community like this thug. There was a black woman who graduated from college and became a successful police officer and she was tragically killed by criminals but you will never hear them protest her killing or that of innocent black kids killed in gang violence. This would be like if we Nigerians were praising some of our worst corrupt politicians or Boko Haram and IPOB militants.

  3. As a Nigerian, this video and history of Sudan makes me appreciate the fact that the British were the ones who colonized/created my country and not some other people like Arabs or the French. For all our issues, we are the richest African economy and one of the better stable ones. Most former British colonies tend to do better socioeconomically and politically compared to French ones. The British had a habit of importing and imposing their political and economic and social ideals on their colonies which tended to help them after colonialism. Yes, my country still has issues aplenty but compared to many other countries here in Africa and like Haiti, we are so much better economically and socially and politically and getting better still.

  6. I agree with you guys. Wakanda forever, aside from poor writing, pacing and world building, was just so disappointing to me on personal level. When I first immigrated to Canada from Nigeria, one of the comics that made me get into comics was Jonathan Hickman's New Avengers where T'Challa and Namor were bitter enemies but also part of the illuminati and worked to save the earth form destruction. They had a serious rivalry, an eventual battle (and WHAT A BATTLE IT WAS🤩) and reconciliation in the subsequent comics like Battle World and Secret Wars. Namor went from being an anti-hero, to a villain to a redeemed hero and T'Challa evolved as a hero and leader. It was wonderful. This movie ruined that and turned Namor into another victim-hood allegory and made Wakanda look stupid, sexist (the way they humiliate black men and men in general😖), and even more raciallly bigotted (Wakanda are disgustingly racist to everyone compared to the comics!) than the first movie. The brand of Black Panther was ruined the moment it went mainstream and woke identitarians got a hold of him. Now he is a joke.

  8. I remember when these shows were airing when I was a kid in Nigeria. My mother and father were suspicious about them and made sure I avoided watching them. It was mainly due to their Christian beliefs and I am glad they did. Now, as an adult, I was saved from becoming another stupid woke leftist millennial. I was not allowed to watch things like Harry Potter or Glee and I am glad I wasn't given what kind of fan bases they have and what they did to other milennials.

  13. Thank God for this! As a Nigerian-immigrant currently in college and working part-time, I am happy that affirmative will be on the way out soon. Every job I have worked at here (from my general labor job at a cheese factory, to my med office admin job, to my current Nurse's Assistant job) I had to prove I was qualified for the position and they never regretted hiring me. Contrary to what most people imagine, it doesn't benefit people like me. I literally do not get student loans, food stamps, or any kind of welfare and I am glad for that because I will never be a beggar. I was not born in the USA and I still have to work to pay my tuition and living expenses with no assistance and earn the privilege to fully immigrate here after my studies.

  14. Here in Nigeria, there's a lot of white South African and White Zimbabwean folks who come here for business and even farming. They integrate well and do well since they don't have to worry about some incompetent governments stealing their property. As a kid, I actually knew a white guy from Zimbabwe. His family were farmers who, unfortunately, lost their lands to Mugabe but he never had any ill will towards us other Africans and he was a cool guy. We bonded over Star Wars😊 He now lives in the UK with his family. I also met a black Zimbabwean as an adult. He was an industrial engineer but he and his wife had to flee due to political persecution by Mugabe's party since they supported the opposition. Thankfully, he emigrated to Canada where he works in the trades now.

  15. Stuff like this makes me so grateful I am a Nigerian. Unlike SA, we didn't have any massive preexisting infrastructure or wealth built by whites. So we actually had to work hard as hell to improve and we also kept many things the British left us like capitalism, democracy, and federalism because we actually know what works. My country has many issues and load shedding too but we are far better than South Africa in many more ways and future prospects. Our electric grid, though flawed, is undergoing rapid modernisation and we never let our politicians rest on it. Our national unity is better. Our economy is larger (we literally outpaced SA as the largest economy in Africa). Our industrialization is increasing, not declining. Our political system, though flawed, is not as crippled and corrupt as South Africa and our politicians don't use the excuse of "apartheid" race to secure power. Plus, we are not known as a haven for xenophobic killings and murders. Good luck to South Africa

On one hand, it was brutal in some ways but on the other it did play a huge role in bringing much of Africa into the modern age via introduction of modern tech, medicine, western education, and nation building. My country literally wouldn't exist without the British. For all the issues we face, most of us wouldn't ever dream of not having a country of our own. Also, one major good it did was abolish slavery. I cannot be more thankful for the British using their naval power and economic might to suppress the slave trade in Africa. Oh, I know they partook in it for a time, themselves, but it existed here long before whites ever came to Africa. Even my own ancestors of the Edo kingdom were slavers. What makes the British different is that unlike other regional African and Arab powers, they had the cultural & religious framework, wisdom, humanity and courage to actually stop the evil of slavery even at huge cost to their economy.

Glad my mother and father pulled me and my sister out of the U.K in 2006 while we were toddlers and took us back to Nigeria. For all the issues and problems we have in my country, the fact that our police force DOES NOT sanction the abuse and assault of women and children is something I am proud of.

  29. As a Nigerian i want to express my condolences to the Queen's family and the people of the UK. One thing that many of us in Africa cannot deny is that slavery was ended by the British during the era of colonialism they were involved with. Heck! My own ancestors were slavers and also enslaved by other Africans and this stopped thanks to the British. Plus, despite what most assume, we Africans absolutely value the positives brought here because of colonialism like modern medicine, technology, western education systems, nation building (as imperfect as it is, it's better than what was there before), better economic and social systems (capitalism and liberalism) As a Nigerian, one thing that makes me happy is how most of the people in my country did not use the death of Queen Elizabeth as some excuse to insult or whine about grievances. Most of us just expressed our condolences. The fact is that many of us bear no ill will to her or the British monarchy. Conversely, there were many statements and hot-takes from the usual suspects who just wanted to push their stupid victimhood ideology at the expense of the Queen's passing.

I'm a Nigerian and I am currently working in Newfoundland, Canada after finally graduating from college. I had to work hard to get embraced by the traditional communities and culture here and thankfully, i succeeded. I didn't try to force anyone to change their culture for me! I now work as a nurse and make frequent house calls and the locals trust me deeply. I hang out with local farners and frequently engage in hunting trips and fishing trips with friends, etc. why do these woje westerners just only focus on terrible kinds of !mmigrants who cause problems?!

One thing people need to understand about Canada is that in the eastern part (mainly in Ontario, Quebec, and the others) where trudeau and his "liberal" party mainly occupy, is steeped in leftist elitist "nationalism" in their attempts to distinguish themselves from America and their British liberal heritage.   35. On the topic of clans/tribes, one thing I, as a Nigerian, am grateful for western civilization and Christianity is how it led to the breaking of the clan structure. Christianity banned cousin marriage in much of Europe and this forced people to intermingle more with others and develop the high-trust liberal social structure the west is known for. This is also somewhat manifesting itself in some of Africa; particularly where the British colonized. Im ny country, tribalism is still an ever-present issue but nationalism and a secular national identity are gradually taking shape here. Our tribes are still important but not as deadly adamant as ut used to be. So, yeah, thanks for that Britian❤

  36.  @MrVafflis  My main issues with Harry Potter, now as an adult, are that the author kept frequently retconning her own canon for social justice brownie points and this kills any interest in the plot for me because what will stop her from simply pulling a last jedi and making everything pointless? I like stories with set plots and consistency. Second issue is the small but loud segment of the fanbase. I have never seen a more unhealthily obsessive and vitriolic fanbase since the Steven Universe fanbase or reylos. The way they turned on J.K. Rowling for simply saying that biological sex is real or the way that they literally apply Harry Potter topics to real life in cringe ways makes it seem clear that they are seriously immature mentally.

On one hand, it means we have a healthy replacement level and a large young and largely literate population that can be attractive for industries to use our cheap labor. That being said, due to the ineptitude of our current government, infrastructure still lags behind and this continues to hinder our economic development and growth. So our large population is becoming a burden. Seriously, i cannot stress how important sane and sensible leadership is for any country, especially developing ones.

  49. I am a Nigerian millennial and I love British literature, especially the classics. When I was a kid my dad would buy VHS tapes of animated adaptations of stories like Treasure Island, Around the World in 80 days, Robin Hood, The Black Arrow, Ivanhoe, and even Jungle Book. I even had to read Shakespeare in primary and secondary school but I loved it. I am currently reading The Jungle Book by Kipling and am loving it. Why do you British people hate your own art and literature like this? It's beautiful and even inspired many fo the great writers and poets in my own country.

  59. When I was a kid in Nigeria, my parents didn't get any internet until 2009 and only for my dad's work. We kids were not allowed to use it extensively and no social media was allowed. Now that I am 27, I am glad for this. I helped keep me sane and inoculated me from the obsession with social media.

While we have many issues here, we are doing a lot to improve (socially, culturally, politically and economically). Insecurity is getting less here. Our economy is the largest in Africa and industrialization is happening. There is still corruption but not as bad as it used to be. All we need to do is get back on track politically and the rest will improve. Plus, one thing I am happy with is that we are not becoming unstable like Ethiopia, Sudan or South Africa.

Iwas raised Pentecostal for years (mainly by my mom) but when my dad sent ne to the Catholic boarding school (fees were cheaper😂) he went to in his youth, i decided to convert. The traditional aspect of Catholicism really appealed to me and helped root me firmly in my Christianity, especially since my mom had a habit of changing churches. I love the rites, the orchestral songs, the history (Catholic church was largely responsible for abolishing slavery in much of Africa qnd even helped establish the scientific age) Also, a lot of Pentecostal churches have devolved into corrupt masses where abuses and excess abound.

It does happen but not as frequent as in the west. So our political class is a very exclusive one. My passion lies more in business. I honestly see entrepreneurship as the way to solving many of our problems in Nigeria and Africa and that is why I usually advocate for politicians here who understand this. I know it looks pathetic to want positive change for my country but be unwilling to try make change politically but the reality here is that it is hard for average people like me to do so. The north is largely Muslim with a sizeable Christian minority while the south is the inverse but this doesn't translate to the kind of division you imagine. Religious tensions do exist but not as extensive as what you see in Lebanon or Sudan and most of us as Christians and Muslims coexist well here. The main divisions are largely socioeconomic with the north being less industrialized and developed due to their history, geography and poor political leadership. This also leads to more insecurity due to Islamic insurgents, some homegrown but mainly from the more poor and dangerous countries that border us. Also, the majority of the victims of islamic terrorists happen to be mostly Muslims here. Aside from this, nationalism and national unity is much higher in my country, despite our religious divide.

  414. Wonderful news! Thanks. This reminds me of a recent spat I had with someone in the comments on a different video. Some leftist channel about how climate change is the end-boss of capitalism. I wrote that the environment is in a better state now than they are assuming and that the world's climate always changes regardless of human action. Some guy brought fossil fuels. I stated that use of fossil fuels actually means less trees being used for fire wood and charcoal in developing countries. He then brought up the Amazon to counter me. I plainly stated it was not being deforested rapidly, that it was protected by federal law, that farmers plant more trees in it and that only less than 20% has been used for farmland. He then got angry and accused me of lying even after I provided statistics from the UN. He just kept on insulting. I left him at that.

  432. 15:31 I had no idea George Orwell was a colonial administrator😮 One thing I have noticed recently is how so many of the creative greats in the world that I enjoy (growing up as a kid in the late 90s in Nigeria and watching bootlegged VHS of animations of classical literature😊) and that laid the foundation for pop culture or that made ground breaking works in the arts, usually tend to be men who either served in the military in some capacity or were born and raised in times of war or societal transition. e.g Edgar Rice Burroughs, J.R.R. Tolkien, Robert Jordan (Wheel of Time), Rudyard Kipling, Robert Louis Stevenson, Ernest Hemmingway. It just makes me think that to be a great story-teller in any capacity, one must have some form of lived experience that compels them to have a deep love for escapism and maybe be a fan or contemporary to history. If that's the case, I reckon we are gonna see a flourishing of creative writers and artists within the coming decades cause Lord knows we are living in some interesting times

As a Nigerian-immigrant currently working and schooling in North America, I have come to one conclusion: Social Justice, wokeness and progressivism can ONLY exist in a developed, liberal and first-world nation/region where there are very few existential threats and where the purposeless masses in urban areas have to create some form of ideology to fill the void in their lives. That is why it makes no sense and destroys that society. That is also why rural westerners, non-western countries and immigrants mostly tend to hate social justice and wokeness more than the native citizens.

  438. Well said. I just watched a WhatIfAltHist video on the various nations in the USA and his segment on New England (the Yankees) pretty muh said what you said. They are the richest (for now) part of America and the ones who influenced much of the culture but they are also the more permissive side who openly advocate for crap like alfabets and post-mdoernism which the rest fo the country detests them for. And their region is failing because of this.
