  1. Times like this make me glad it was the Europeans who ended up colonizing much of Africa and not the Arabs or Asians. We Africans at least got the framework liberalism from the Europeans and though our countries implemented it imperfectly, the fact that we have not developed the brutal style of society China has is a good thing in my eyes.

  2. @don joe Oh believe me, friend, that fact is not lost on me. The reason I specifically mentioned the EUropeans and their colonialism was because theirs was the only one that contributed anything remotely long-lasting and positive for the continent. They abolished slavery here when many African kingdoms, tribes and Arab conquerors would not do so. They laid the foundation for nation building and economic development while the African colonialists and Arab conquerors did nothing but ONLY pillage the land and subjugate others.
