Stuff like this makes me so grateful I am a Nigerian. Unlike SA, we didn't have any massive preexisting infrastructure or wealth built by whites. So we actually had to work hard as hell to improve and we also kept many things the British left us like capitalism, democracy, and federalism because we actually know what works. My country has many issues and load shedding too but we are far better than South Africa in many more ways and future prospects. Our electric grid, though flawed, is undergoing rapid modernisation and we never let our politicians rest on it. Our national unity is better. Our economy is larger (we literally outpaced SA as the largest economy in Africa). Our industrialization is increasing, not declining. Our political system, though flawed, is not as crippled and corrupt as South Africa and our politicians don't use the excuse of "apartheid" race to secure power. Plus, we are not known as a haven for xenophobic killings and murders. Good luck to South Africa

Botswana is a perfect example of what South Africa could have been. They are next to South Africa and have less land and resources but they had better leadership, especially in Seretse Khama. And they kept the systems and policies the British left and even modified them with their culture and are now among the most politically stable, with good infrastructure, security, and economically stable nations in Africa.

@solrosenberg4529 I like your point about any group being able to use those things to improve. Botswana is a perfect example. They are next to South Africa and have less land and resources but they had better leadership, especially in Seretse Khama. And they kept the systems and policies the British left and even modified them with their culture and are now among the most politically stable, with good infrastructure, security, and economically stable nations in Africa.

@solrosenberg4529 well said, friend. Also, we have, and are still embracing, mos of these things you listed. For example, we were the first African country to get Starlink. One reason is that unlike SA, we have no racial quotas for management or work staff. This is why SA didn't get it first. We also promote capitalism (no talk of our government seizing property based on race or tribe here) and we attract sizable foreign investment due to this. We also embrace civic nationalism and democracy because both help us maintain national unity, especially after our past civil war and our ethnic and religious differences i.e., Christians and Muslims.

@manofculture584 thanks, my guy. We still have a long way to go but we are at least working to improve.

@shadowlord1418 thanks for the compliment, friend. We are getting there thanks to improving political leadership and better economic policies but there are other better countries like Botswana, Namibia, Morocco, Mauritius, and Kenya.

@michaelwellen2866 thanks. With more infrastructure and better systems here, we might just get there. Thanks

@bryantroyer8008 🤣🤣Nice! Honestly, the "Nigerian prince" meme is now an inside joke, even among us here.

@defectiveindustries Amen, and thanks.

@Sines314 many thanks.

@TessaTickle yep, Indeed we should. Thankfully, we have done away with the godawful fuel subsidy that was helping to encourage such oil theft and corruption but results from this movie will take time but it's a start.

@sans_hw187 nope. Not as you would think, friend. The north is largely Muslim with a sizeable Christian minority while the south is the inverse but this doesn't translate to the kind of division you imagine. Religious tensions do exist but not as extensive as what you see in Lebanon or Sudan and most of us as Christians and Muslims coexist well here. The main divisions are largely socioeconomic with the north being less industrialized and developed due to their history, geography and poor political leadership. This also leads to more insecurity due to Islamic insurgents, some homegrown but mainly from the more poor and dangerous countries that border us. Also, the majority of the victims of islamic terrorists happen to be mostly Muslims here. Aside from this, nationalism and national unity is much higher in my country, despite our religious divide.

@oodlesofnoodles4660 simple answer: Because societal derelicts, regardless of nationality, always find illegal ways to harm places, even when the majority are good people. The same reason why Mexican gangs and Nigerien terrorists plague America and Nigeria, despite the majority of Mexicans and Nigeriens are good people. Also, considering how bad the SA gangs like the numbers, the ugly americans, etc are, why are you only focusing on Nigerians as if crime never existed in your country before them?
