Here in Nigeria, there's a lot of white South African and White Zimbabwean folks who come here for business and even farming. They integrate well and do well since they don't have to worry about some incompetent governments stealing their property. As a kid, I actually knew a white guy from Zimbabwe. His family were farmers who, unfortunately, lost their lands to Mugabe but he never had any ill will towards us other Africans and he was a cool guy. We bonded over Star Wars😊 He now lives in the UK with his family. I also met a black Zimbabwean as an adult. He was an industrial engineer but he and his wife had to flee due to political persecution by Mugabe's party since they supported the opposition. Thankfully, he emigrated to Canada where he works in the trades now.

 @Musa-f6v9i Well, to answer, South Africa is marginally more competent but only because of pre-existing institutions and infrastructure built by the former rulers. Consider how corruption has increased and stuff is declining and property rigts are about to be eroded, it's not looking good for them long term😕

 @Musa-f6v9i which of our countries has the most inequality? Which one is declining despite having being built up by a competent group? Which one ince had nukes and is now struggling with electrity?

 @sandgrownun66 yeah, understandable fear but not nearly as bad. Don't get me wrong, we have our issues here in Nigeria but property rights are one of those things we have been steadfastly trying to uphold, especially since we returned to democratic governance and we want to grow our economy via domestic and foreign investment. We have a lretty large Chinese and Indian expat population here and they have no fear of losing their property. We are not like Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso or Zimbabwe.

 @siphamandlamkhize9766 I'm Edo by tribe but born in Lagos. Also, if there was no real fear of property/land seizure and redistribution in SA, then why has Ramaphosa signed a land seizure bill without compensation into law? Where there's smoke, there's fire😕 I know many countries (even the USA and Japan) have laws that allow the government to seize land for public good or utility BUT they are also required to fully compensate the owners. What SA has is basically Zimbabwe's land grab practices .

 @josm1481 glad you mentioned Tanzania 😊 Fun fact: they started improving once they got rid of the dumb socialism and authoritarian policies of Julius Nyerere, their first independent president. Despite his good intentions, his policies bearly ruined the country and caused hardship. Basically, a similar story to us in Nigeria after we went back to democracy and capitalism after from decades of African military rule and mismanagement.

But i never claimed my government was more competent. I said your was marginally competent due to the white rule of the past and the institutions and infrastructure they built. We didn't have that advantage in Nigeria and now yours is declining 😅 I  @Musa-f6v9iÂ

 @Alt123-r9c Glad to hear. We have our issues but i am glad your family is safe here.

 @siphamandlamkhize9766 let us hope so.

 @gracecollins8415 and you are right to be worried about that. I am a Christian (Catholic) and even i know how dangerous it can be for folks like me here😢 but a lot more musIims end up as victims of this insecurity and it's also largely restricted to the poorly developed/tribal/musIim north that borders failing countries like Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso, etc. The southern parts of our country tend to be more secure, our current government has been working had on many reforms, especially to tackle insecurity and it has been yielding results. It's still dangerous but is getting gradually good.

 @Musa-f6v9i well, considering we didn't have a ruling class of whites to build up our country, like South Africa had, i would say we are😂 Plus, at least we are not the most unequal country on earth or declining from our highs.

 @siphamandlamkhize9766 good. I hope they don't suffer the same as the whites in Zimbabwe or the Indians in Uganda during Amin's time.

 @siphamandlamkhize9766 it's nice to say that but we are not the country with a law that makes it possible for the government to seize land owned by whites and give it away based on race. We are also the country with the highest inequality around. So, again, i hope you are right that your government doesn't pull a Zimbabwe on land owners based on race😢

 @siphamandlamkhize9766 i know about your history and it's still not a good excuse. Since Zimbabwe is a close neighbor of yours, shouldn't you have learned from their mistake with Mugabe's terrible land grabs and economic mismanagement and eventual oppression of his own people? Or why not learn from Botswana eho were also colonized, had white rulers but embraced better policies and governance via Seretse Khama?
