  1. 1:59 this is why I will always be grateful that the region that eventually became my country (Nigeria) was colonized by the British and not the Spanish, Portuguese or Germans. The British, though brutal in some ways, at least had the better notion of implanting their social systems onto their colonies and this tended to have the effect afterwards of making them into more liberal (economically and socially) and economically strong countries. Not to mention that the British also are the reason why slavery was abolished in Nigeria and much of Africa. The Spanish and Portuguese were simply interested in extraction and exploitation of resources and people and not any sort of nation building.
