This is gonna sound weird but as a kid in Nigeria in 2000, i remember watching an American TV movie on cable that i think was about this event. I remember scenes like the two criminals finding a man practicing on a sh*oting range, then robbing him. He implores them to take his car and spare him but they still fire on him. He then survives, tells some detectives and then the last scenes are of the car chase and sh*otout and one of the detectives is yelling that "it's over!" after he ends the two, and some pedestrians alert police to the sh*oting. Seriously, i vaguely remember seeing this movie as a kid an never imagined it was based on a real event in the USA😮 I just assumed it was a randoms 80s action film like the many i ised to watch on cable as a kid
