When I see stuff like this antiwork subreddit (seriously, who takes pride in not working?! Even if the job sucks, we all have to start from the bottom and build ourselves up in life!), I genuinely question whether I am a millennial or whether my upbringing just makes me different. Heck! I am an immigrant attending college and working part-time and I still have to pay my high tuition and living expenses all on my own with no government or family aid. It's tough but I cannot afford to slack off. Why is this so hard for my generation?

@default3623 That doesn't sound like a good argument/reason. All actions in life involve some level of opportunity cost. Working (whether for money or for simply doing personal chores) will take away time from one's personal leisure time. Conversely, engaging in only leisure time will mean sacrificing work and earnings. As for the work being hard, well no job is ever meant to easy but it still needs to get done. If anyone doesn't want to do it, they are not forced to.

@tropik5724 Friend, if we were talking about working in an underdeveloped country or region, maybe I would put more stock in this but America and much of the west is not bereft of opportunities and social systems that enable people to succeed in some form. Are there people plagued by unusual and difficult circumstances? yes. Are they an overwhelming number of them or is western society not built to enable them succeed? I highly doubt it. It feels more like a case of "most people won't do that" than "can't do that".
