  1. I'm Nigerian and I can't tell you how much I, and most other people, in my country hate western DEI woke nonsense. Toxic identity politics helps no one. Heck! I recently got into anime and the characters are diverse a d so well written. Western media used to already do diversity well. What happened?!

  2.  @DPLP-pr6vs  oh, I am aware of the issues you correctly bring up, friend. But I and many others still enjoy anime and manga mainly cause the entertainment value is just better and they largely avoid toxic identity politics. Plus, when they do make diverse characters, especially black ones and even LGBTQ ones, they actually treat them as characters with personality or just nake them entertaining. One of my favorites and recent anime is Apare Ranman. Basically Wacky Racers crossed with a bit Blood Meridian. The black character o DJ is genuinely such a fun and badass guy🤩👍 The female character of Xia Ling is a strong and we'll written female character who is likable and even has an arc centred on sexism but they did it so well and it felt so refreshing. Even the native character, Hototo, is superb. Maybe it's cause I'm still relatively new to anime and manga (I got into it in 2021) but so far, the new and old stuff I have seen is so damn good.
