As a conservative, i am just fed up with media of any kind that pushes toxic identity politics, whether from the left or right. That's why anine and manga are winning. We won't beat wokeness by acting like them! Juat make good entertaining media without any toxic identity politics or "gotcha" political moments😡

@strategery101 friend, you said it. When I was a kid in Nigeria in the early 2000s, western media had diversity and social commentary but it was also well written with great great characters and focused mainly on entertainment and had nuance. Shows like Hey Arnold are a perfect example. Another is Fallout New Vegas with Joshua Graham as one of the best examples of conservative Christian character in media. I don't understand why western media has become the way it is.

@sammatthew2841 exactly! And yet conservatives, leftists and centrists and even apolitical folks love these characters and anime/manga. Know why? Because unlike current western media, Japan actually focuses on characterization, good writing, nuance and doesn't attack viewers if they don't like what they make, instead of lazy identity politics and antagonism from current western media. That's also the reason why pre-Kelvin Star Trek is way more popular than current Star Trek despite having social justice, commentary and politics. The former also had great stories and writing and never attacked their audience while the latter is the exact opposite and is failing.

@rennscott5808 nah. Wokeness is when toxic identity politics is pushed in media or society and then it leads to more division and ruins everything. Anime has none of that

@CorgiEnjoyer oh, I am well aware of those awesome fellas. I discovered them on YouTube after getting so frustrated with mainstream coverage of entertainment media.
