In Nigeria, CNN used to be regarded as one of the best news networks and I used to watch them even as a teenager in the 2000s but when I noticed their coverage of stuff like America's destabilizing of Libya, under obama, was so biased that they didn't cover the fallout or the rise in slavery and terrorism as a result, I started to have doubts. Then I travelled to North America for college in 2015 and actually watched them, I was disillusioned. Gone was any of the factual and unbiased and professionalism they were known for internationally and they just came off like amateurish reality TV presenters with the bias to match. I have stopped watching CNN and any mainstream western news since.

1. Get Woke, Go Broke! 2. Stupid short-sighted company policies like the binge series model instead of sticking with the traditional weekly episodic model. 3. Green-lighting any show without proper research into viability or profitability while axing good shows quickly before they gain ground. 4. Downplaying increasing competition like how Block Busters made the same mistake. 5. Pricing themselves in face of growing competition.

Simple: Bad business plans and structure, poor management decisions and policies, abusive work environment, embracing DEI and pushing toxic identity politics, and lack of journalism. Tim Pool, who used to work for them and helped create their on-the-ground reporring program, perfectly describes it all.

@सनातन संघर्ष Wow, so this has been happening even in India too? That doesn't surprise me. CNN have declined overall.

@jeffersonhassan4558 and? Am I wrong? Any system that removes meritocracy is bound to fail.

Tim Pool used to work for VICE and he was one of their pioneers in on-the-ground reporting but when he saw the writing on the wall, he jumped ship. They tried to hold him and offered him huge money but he wisely refused and is now successfully doing his own thing👍👍

To all Steven Universe fans, you people are sick effers! First the near driving of a kid to suicide and then the vitriol you all showed a sick kid who got to see spoilers of your god-awful subversive degenerate "cartoon"! You people are almost as bad as the potter heads.

Whatifalthist was right about these silicon valley types. They are all sociopaths who live detach lives from the rest of humanity. That is why their products and ideas are so disturbing and harmful to humanity as a whole.

@jeffersonhassan4558 is it wrong? The moment any business or organization decided to abandon meritocracy and professionalism for identity politics and virtue-signaling, they are doomed to fail. I ma black and will be damned before I ever defend DEI.

@neniiiiiiiiiiiiiii yes? And?

What are you talking about? Do you have any idea how frequently CNN, MSNBC, CBC, Reuters and most western news media were praising China for their COVID protocols which involved arresting people and how many western media ignore the concentration camps? Western media loves and praises China and lies for them. What are you talking about exactly?

@habibi_py Oh, friend, most of us don't believe it is only wokeness that is Netflix's issue. It is simply one of many factors. Even in my comment, I literally listed other reasons why they are currently failing.

@habibi_py Friend, what most of us people don't want is art and media (especially escapist media) being used to push politics or ideology of any kind. Rather, politics and ideology should be used to enhance the art/media's story and plot and characters. There is a difference. Attack on Titan uses themes and subject matter like racism, xenophobia, generational guilt, authoritarianism etc to enhance its story and develop the world and characters. It doesn't push any of these ideologies or tell the audience what to think or believe. Conversely, X-Men Green, an American comic literally has a mutant eco-terrorist go on a killing spree stabbing normal people because a sea turtle choked on a plastic wrapper and she was sad by this and she never faces punishments or condemnation for this crime.

Matthew Collins Okay, first off, I am 28 (I doubt that makes me a boomer unless you factor in my being born before the internet became ubiquitous). Also, having racially or gender diverse or LGBT characters does not equal being woke. I am black and I relate more with good well written characters than simply those who look like me. Being woke means having tokenism instead of good characterisation and simply focusing on leftist ideology and using a show/medium and said token characters to push it. Stranger Things and Arcane have diverse characters who are also very well written and the shows are incredibly well made and have great plots. That is the antithesis of being woke. Another example is literally any popular mainstream or non-mainstream anime. Most are Japanese characters and many are female and even quite a few are LGBT but they are so well written that everyone (even non-Japanese people like me) enjoys them and relates with them.

Matthew Collins I am glad we both agree on that, friend. The best kind of diversity is diversity that works and that focuses more on great characterisation.
