  2. I recently watched a video by WhatIfAltHist and he posited that the key difference between the right and the left lies in the issue of envy. The right embraces human nature and also seeks to curb its dangerous excesses and channel them into more positive things, with mixed to good results but the left misunderstands human nature and seeks to control and dominate it, with always negative results, and this "utilitarian" drive is borne of envy for what others have and lacking motivation to achieve similar things.
