As a Nigerian, i am glad to see your objective coverage of African geopolitics. Your assessment on Russian and Chinese moves here is so true. China is pretty much here for cheap resource extraction and debt diplomacy for their own benefit. Already they have started repossessing government houses and planes and other assets from my country since our inept government is heavily indebted to them for projects that are largely incomplete. As for Russia, they're here for displacing the west and easy access to resources for their war in Ukraine. The three Sahel countries that "kicked out" France with the help of Russia are already experiencing increased insecurity and hardly anyone talks about that. The Tuareg rebels are gaining more ground and even these insurgencies are making way into the rest of west Africa. Even in the North of my country, during the recent protests, there were several agitators waving Russian flags and demanding regime change here😔😔😔😔

@davidandrews1976Andrews hi there. While our country is a large economy here in Africa, we have been declining due to so many socioeconomic and political issues. We used to be the largest economy in Africa but bad economic policies by our government, coupled by declining oil prices, since 2015 have resulted in us dropping. This has also led to rapid inflation, massive insecurity (especially in our northern Muslim regions), and as for the investments from China, that has become a double edged sword. On one hand, the "investments" did help boost our GDP but on the other, our new government since 2015 massively indebted us to them for "infrastructure projects" that are now largely incomplete, underfunded and since we now owe China a lot of money they have begun repossessing government assets.

@iliassti4246 Are you sure? According to news from IAfrica website, Burkina Faso's Junta is under pressure from the rising terrorist attacks. Also, is this the same Burkina Faso that is now forcibly conscripting anyone who criticizes the Junta? The same country that still relies on UN food aid according to their own reports? As for my country and Boko Haram, we are countering them militarily but not yet defeated them, partly because terrorists for Niger, Burkina Faso and Mali keep flooding in and joining them😔😔

@Shaniquana really? So which of buhari's legacy projects from China have been realized? Most are incomplete and underfunded with contractors being unpaid and we now owe them several billions and they are seizing our government assets.

@jileskorey1105 welcome to my world, friend. Here in Nigeria, I kept saying this to those who supported the coups. They claim it's against neo imperialism but are silent as Russia siphons gold from those countries🥲🥲
