In retrospect, the Haitian revolution was one of the more disastrous ones, especially for Haitians in the long run. After ejected the French, the new leaders reinstated the plantation slave system and curtialed civic liberties and economic development for the country. Even the debt France imoosed on them was only accepted because the leader who assumed power in a coup, wanted to prevent the French from deposing him. They later went on to i vade, occupy a d enslave the Dominican Republic. All of their problems are largely of their own making. Mexico lost a war, territory and money to the USA. Germany had to pay reparations for two world wars. Namibia and Botswana were both colonized. DR was occupied by Haiti and yet all of these countries all do better than Haiti. They have no excuse

@cjairo um, I'm Nigerian pal. Why assume I am from the USA? Also, what excuse does Haiti have exactly? Mexico lost a war, had to pay reparations and also lost land to the USA but they are doing well today. Germany had to pay reparations for two world wars and had most of their country destroyed but they bounced back. Namibia and Botswana were both colonized and one of them is landlocked and both have poor soul and resources but they among some of the most stable and we'll manage countries in Africa. Even Dominican Republic that was conquered by Haiti is doing well today. What is Haiti excuse?!

@cjairo People like you will always make excuses for ideological reasons😔😔I knew you were going to use the race excuse, hence why I added those two African countries. So pathetic. Haiti's problem is not due to race or exploitation or whatever you think as other countries have had far worse. It's due to their poor culture and history. The revolution leaders were nothing but warriors who couldn't actually manage a country at all. They reinstated slavery after ejecting France and oppressed their own people. If Kenyans, Nigerians, Ghanaians or Indians where the majority in Haiti, the country would be stable due to their better culture and values.

@fredrikr6280 I like how even you admit that they were not educated or knowledgeable of.much and this contributed to the mess they made their country. The sad reality is that since most of them were just warriors, even before they became slaves, they were not the best kind of leaders or nation builders due to that terrible culture. After the ejected France, the rulers then reinstated slavery and plantation and also curtailed education and civic liberty of their citizens. They then subsequently mismanaged their economy, invaded and occupied the Dominican Republic due to their lack of diplomatic knowledge. All of this happened even before France imposed debt on them. They largely contributed to their own problems and did themselves no favors in terms of diplomatic relations or economics. So that is why I don't buy the excuse of the west being the main reason for their failure as a nation. Others have had it far worse than them.
