The fact Cinderella never gave in to hate and that she didn't lose her good nature (one of the things that made the Prince fall in love with her) despite all the abuse she endured, makes her one of the best female characters in fiction ever.

  3. This explains why my father bought so many bootlegged VHS tapes of American movies and cartoons for me when I was a kid in Nigeria in the late 90s. Certainly explains why I never became a woke leftists millennial when I finally emigrated to the USA for college.

  4.  @overwicket1339  Maybe, just maybe you should not measure these movies/fairytales based on reality. We enjoy them because they are well told stories and well-made movies. You trying to analyze them and spot their "problematic" areas with regards to real life relationship is not exactly a smart look. These stories and characters are not made to be realistic because it's fiction. It's meant to be entertaining.

As a guy who grew up watching the original Disney Cinderella on VHS as a kid in Nigeria, I cannot help but be disgusted by the constant "deconstruction/subversion" of the original story, its themes and morals. Stop inserting crap feminism into fiction or classical stories!
