Have you even been in a sorority because I guess not. Not once did I feel like I was in a cult. We had sisters that were in cult like societies growing up due to parents forcing them.

Yes because you don’t get provided things for free. I only paid $200 per semester but no house and half went to the national board. However, my chapter at a small school only paid $50 a semester. Not all sororities are expensive.

@mewesquirrel6720 Not at all especially the Mormons. We only had a few people get drunk on rare occasions. We have had members that never had alcohol before.

@whateverwhatever4026 You don’t live in the same house. My sorority never choose to have a house. Everyone isn’t required to live in a house. People choose to live in a house if they have one. Some schools have 0 Greek life houses as the school is too small for one.
6
I was in sorority and had never felt uncomfortable in my sorority even when I surrounded by racist people when doing community service with my sorority. The racist people were the local residents or homeless not my sorority. I have friends from other sororities that never felt uncomfortable in their sorority at all. Maybe my sister’s Asian sorority once but it was just because the community service chair signed people up to clean around the school campus.

@whateverwhatever4026 Not at all and don’t assume. I had no problem living on my own after the dorms. I could care less if a sorority has a house or not. My sorority always choose to not have a house ever since we were founded at my college in the mid 2000’s.
5
That’s a Latina sorority. People asked for sororities that weren’t typical Greek life to be featured.
5
It’s in all girl social group even the sororities that are based on majors. Majors can include agricultural sciences, engineering, etc. You also participate in things like community service. Living in a house is optional and not all sororities have a house.

Sorority fees cover a lot of stuff so we don’t have to pay later out of pocket at a high price. The sororities that pay the college a fee to be recognized as a legitimate student organization is much different as it’s the just the school profiting off of students.
4
@mewesquirrel6720 We had Mormon members in my sorority is what I’m saying. Mormons don’t drink alcohol, coffee, tea, etc. I’m not Mormon at all.
4
A lot of sorority girls don’t pay more than rent if they rent an apartment or condo unless the rent is very cheap. I only paid $200 per semester and my sorority at another school only paid $50 per semester. Your fees cover a lot and sometimes you have to pay fees towards the national board aka the people that manage the sorority on an executive level. Some schools, make sororities pay a school fee just like any other student organization. A lot of the members in sorority had to work especially since some of the grew up poor and relied on snap.
4
Partying is optional as not everyone in a sorority will party of want to party. Sororities have to meet a minimum overall gpa so definitely studying happening. My sorority got study rooms for us and it’s sometimes easy to ask for help for certain hard college/university classes. I had members in my sorority that ended up at the library for most of the week. Some people don’t have much time to party as they work. The main point of sororities is not to party at all. Fees pay for a lot so you don’t have to pay a lot later. Sororities that have to pay the school a fee is different as the school profits.
4
It’s not a cult. Not once did I feel like I was in cult. My sorority had members that were forced to be in cult like churches.
4
@beyoncesdaughter9128 Depends on person and sometimes the group itself. Sometimes not at all when fees are as cheap as $50 a month. Half of my fees went to the national board and I didn’t even like some of those national board execs back then.
3
It’s different for everyone. A lot of people join to meet friends. I’ve met people in my same sorority at a small school and their reasoning is much different. To them it’s a might as well get to know some students on campus as they will see them on campus anyway. Some people have joined as they need the community service hours to graduate.
3
Yes but not all sorority girls pay as much as they do for tuition. My sorority had cheap dues but some people needed to take out loans as their family didn’t have the money to pay for college in full.
3
Sorority fees cover a lot and many sororities have to pay the national board aka the people who manage sororities. Most sorority members won’t meet their national board members. Some sororities have to pay their college a fee to be considered a legitimate sorority and that’s the school profiting. Supplies, free shirts, some free food, etc doesn’t pay for friends. Half of my fees went to the national board and I didn’t even like some of the national board members.
2
@mewesquirrel6720 People show up drunk to class sometimes. Not anyone in my sorority or myself though.
2
I agree with that. My sorority as a whole has helped people get jobs just from having references or posting job opportunities. As a whole is to mean members from all different chapters nationwide. Even an elderly lady from my sorority chapter was able to get her oldest son a stable job via sorority connections.
2
@beyoncesdaughter9128 I didn’t pay to have friends at all when I was in sorority as I choose to make friends on my own. I can’t say for ever sorority girl hence why I said it depends. Half of my fees went to the national board and I didn’t pay make friends with the national board when I didn’t even like some of those executives. I had a emo friend in my sorority and her typical outfit was emo or just all black. We usually didn’t match at all especially when we only had one emo member. We had sorority girls of all types in my sorority and an emo girl is not the norm at all. I can only account for sorority girls I know and they didn’t pay for friends but I don’t know for every single sorority girl.
2
@denjisasa Not everyone pays a lot in sorority and even if you mean for friends alone. Fees cover a lot so you don’t pay out of pocket later. Some sororities are required to pay the school a fee just to be legitimate student organization but that’s just the school profiting. Half of my fees went to the national board and I didn’t even like some of those executives. I paid $200 but I was also covered for supplies, free shirts, some food, etc which aren’t typical for making friends. Free sororities exist and that’s when the school pays for everything student organization wise.
2
Not all sororities pay so much. I know a sorority chapter that only pays $50 a semester as the school is small. What I paid was cheap when I joined. Some sororities have to pay the school a fee as well just to have a recognized organization on campus.
2
A sorority is someone who is in an all girls social group in college. We have professional sororities as well that are often major based and majors can include agricultural sciences, engineering, etc.
2
A sorority isn’t a cult. Most sororities don’t have a beauty standard besides to look presentable at certain formal events. I had an emo friend in my sorority. We had Mormons in my sorority too and they don’t drink even coffee or tea. One girl did answer yes for uncomfortable but it’s no different than doing a presentation in class.
1
@aus-li Not everyone. My one friend was not once stripped away of her emo identity while in a sorority with me. We both graduated. What you read and watch isn’t always true.
1
@aus-li Sororities are much different than fraternities. This video is about sororities. What you mentioned about fraternities is only a small percentage of frat men. Sororities typically don’t have men unless it’s a small school with very few student organizations. Fraternities can be coed too. I know about the all types of hazing. A fraternity at my college got kicked off only due to having a messy house when we have dorms that are much worse in terms of cleanliness. Not once hazed besides unclean house ordeal. Still sororities and fraternities are not the same.
1
@skyblack12301997 It’s not about the group itself but getting connections. Connections via references or knowing job opportunities listed via company website only. For my sorority, a board members oldest son was able to get a job via connections through the sorority. That son has never been in a sorority or a frat before.
1
Sororities are nothing like the movies besides having to chant. It’s a historical tradition to chant like early 1900’s.
1
Only some and not all. The highest I’ve heard is $2,000 but they were required to pay the school a fee to exist on college and pay the national board. Fees cover a lot so you don’t have to pay later. I know sorority chapter at a small school that only pays $50 a semester.
1
Those sororities were founded during times of segregations. It’s called having socials or Greek events. There are plenty of opportunities at many school campuses for Greek life members to meet multi Greek life members. My school did greek games for education.
1
It’s only happens at some sororities and not all. I was at the only Asian at times in my sorority but not once did I hear anything discriminatory against me. I went to mostly white school and members that lived in places that were 2-3% or less people of color. My sister was in the Asian sorority and they had mixed sisters but not once did they segregate. Everyone with non-typical English had their name pronounced correctly too.

@amberlynns_stomach_titty I’m not in cult and not once did I feel like I was in a cult. I had members in my sorority that were a part of cult like churches and they never felt like they were in a cult during college. Don’t speak on sororities when you clearly don’t know about much about it. On a separate note, there are cult like churches exist in churches. Also, one of my members escaped strict Russian rule as a child and not once felt like it was a cult.
1
It’s different for each sorority. It can be $0, $50, $200, $600, $1000, $1500, etc. $0 is when the school pays for everything. $50 is a sorority at a small school. Fees cover a lot unless you have to pay the college a fee while in a sorority.
1
What we pay for covers a lot and at some schools, sororities pay the school a fee like any other student organization. I had cheap fees and half of fees went national when I didn’t even like some of the national board executives. Fees also goes towards things like supplies, free shirts, etc. Free sororities exist and it’s when the school typically small pays for everything.
1
There are free sororities. Those sororities are paid for by school typically small. You pay for other student organizations as well. Typically you pay but what you pay for covers a lot.
