  17. This entire trial is sad. I understand why prosecutors charged Ethan’s parents. I am truly sorry for the victim’s families. Ethan was showing signs of mental illness but his parents dismissed this. Ethan had hallucinations, he also thought their house was haunted. Tortured animals, and kept a baby bird’s head in a jar in his bedroom. He wrote “help me” on his notepad. I am not a professional, but his behavior is evidence of mental illness along with his criminal acts. Mom was taking care of her horses and a boyfriend on the side, plus working so no time for her troubled son.

She was the first woman (and the first Roman Catholic) to serve as chief justice. Judge Toal is competent and highly respected.
