Rioting is a form of protest

They don’t have to be peaceful

No

@Wren1 It’s not necessarily terrorism it’s like how all squares are a rhombus but not all rhomboids are squares Terrorism is to use violence or the threat of violence to create fear as a means to achieve political change if the rioting is not to change but say to revive a right that is granted to them that they are being deprived of unjustly then it’s not terrorism it’s protesting by definition
1
@mikegrant5721 As long as you don’t give a riot worth of people a good reason to be there I agree
1
@alperdue2704 It depends on the situation in some cases sure but not all
1
@alperdue2704 With damaging property it could be a form of civil disobedience akin to dumping tea in a harbor
1
@Wren1 No it’s not I’m pretty sure I already stated the textbook definition of terrorism but rioting against the government is certainly not the definition of terrorism
1
Yeah there was no riots under trump right
1
@Wren1 Then you’re violently suppressing their first amendment rights
1
@LukeHartman-ro7hl Well rioters generally aren’t directing their aggression towards people so your example doesn’t make sense but also their rioting in no way limits freedom of speech or expression
1
@Al-ed2jc That’s a complicated question actually I would suggest you do your own research on that because obviously there’s been a lot of discussion on the topic if you think about it and you kind of have to come to your own conclusions You could say the second amendment or you could get into events like the Boston tea party or you could go into interpretations and applications over the years some of which would suggest some destructive action to be protected first amendment action Not to say rioters in protest should be free from consequences but considerations have to be made if the riot is also a protest Of course the first amendment doesn’t protect you from civil litigation you can absolutely still sue someone for destroying your property even if their action was 100% first amendment protected protest that only protects them from government criminal courts not civil courts If someone is willing to take those consequences and pay for damages who are you to stop them anyway you would be infringing on their right to expression and we’ve come full circle
1
@DarkMatterCurator why shouldn’t this y’all you speak of act violently if you are threatening murder you ever thought of that
1
@Wren1 Idk where you keep getting this idea I’ve said it allows for violence towards other people
1
@LukeHartman-ro7hl Doesn’t matter everyone gets the first amendment or nobody does
1
@LukeHartman-ro7hl You have the second amendment right for that exact reason you can’t speak freely to someone if they have a gun and you don’t but if you have a gun and you can’t speak freely you’re simply a coward by our founding fathers standards
1
@That1GuysPage “right to assembly”
1
@waldo04 What happens once you’ve peaceably assembled and your grievances haven’t been redressed
1
They don’t
