A passenger texted there was a bird strike. If there were a bird strike, would a pilot tell his passengers? If passengers witnessed it on their own, then I'm guessing it was a large strike, maybe large enough to even affect the landing gear. Are bird strikes large enough to affect both engines simultaneously? The engines are 18 or so feet apart. You'd think you would see this on video, but that video quality ain't the best.
I don't want to sound conspiratorial here but with all these drones in the air these days, what if it sucked up a drone and vaporized a lithium ion battery which got sucked into the cabin. Or maybe they thought they were fired upon, (due to the very recent event) and rushed and totally botched everything, but what are the chances of that? I guess it was just a bird strike, they shut off the wrong engine, which has happened before, and this caused a series of bad mistakes met with a very unfortunate runway design. I've heard it looks like the only engine operating is the damaged one.
Why were they in such a rush to land? It's as if they lost all power..
They really gotta sort these runways out, all over the world. It shouldn't be certain death if you skid a plane down a runway.
