I've got some property around my are and have taken in a few cats and once they're grown almost every one decided to leave for good. I only had one that decided to keep coming back. He'll be out 3 days or so and come back. They go on journeys to see past girlfriends or get held up by something, another animal, dog maybe..who knows. I spotted a cat I took in once and tried to call him but in a short time he was wild again. haha they have their own lives, the cat I have now was running out in the rain-would be gone for hours, then I see he has kittens he's looking after, they're nearly full grown and he's still pretty close with them, and he hangs out with a female cat from time to time like he's married, yeah the same cat over a couple years..just lounging about with her, anyway when you take a cat in and it has ultimate freedom but still chooses you and only you can pick him up and pet him then that's pretty special, you can't get that from dogs, dogs are brown-nosing people pleasers that lack independence
