  1. lifting the fan might effect temp though since those fans are designed to push air right and left through the fins also rather than just push air forward like on a cpu, I've actually removed that plastic shroud and tried numerous 120mm case fans and the only drop in temp was achieved on idle, the fans could never cool the card as well as the stock fan, it might be due to rpm but it was still quite a surprise, although I'm talking as if 65 is a tj max, still it's worth sacrificing a few degrees for no more wrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, I just ended up making an air port and cranking it to 60, good enough, foam, sponge, and springs, can really dampen sound well though

  2. that might work in my thermaltake armor full tower case with a slightly thinner cooler. I currently finally got my gtx 660 cooler and quieter by taking out the fan and plastic garb and putting on a silverstone 120mm fan, very hard to keep it cool and quiet though since the heatsink is so small but it's cool and quiet enough for me atleast. You gave me a good idea, bad psu's have a lot of good aluminum in them for heatsinks.
