Shaw's competition is the best imo and since he's so accomplished/passionate/respected by the competitors..I think the athletes see that winning this competition truly proves who the strongest is, yes winning WSM will change your life (money and fame) but when you talk about respect then it's the Shaw Classic I think Brian (along with the other strongmen on social media gaining audiences) will bring the sport to the next level, like the way The Ultimate Fighter basically saved the UFC.

  3.  @WickedZZzY  in many cases speed is a big deal and that irks me but when a guy stops lifting before he's out of time then the speed didn't matter, reps are..debatable as far as strength goes, it's strength but it's also stamina, I still think when it comes to lifting the heaviest objects it's brian who wins, seeing him lifting heavy on his History channel show showcased that, but this show is also about reps and movements and all that, still..it's kind of a good thing, imagine if an andre the giant comes along one day and no one can beat him, haha

  7.  @bdegrds  heck a bigger factor, I hate to say, is his decision-making, he sometimes just makes bad decisions or uses a bad strategy, or like this year he said he forgot to take the necessary deep breath before doing the conan's wheel, he screwed up and got sweaty hands on the that atv-grip hold, he'll pace himself too much and end up doing a stone off due to missing out on half a point, I'm just an armchair viewer but with his bus pull he's always way too high and his squats are too slow and I think what he really needed was someone like Eddie Hall or Licis to coach him, guys like Licis and Hooper are so damn strategic and smart about technique, not that they don't take risks and risk injury, but that's what it takes to win WSM now, one huge and common mistakes champions make is sticking with their same coaches and diet and brian made that mistake, his diet obviously sucked and his coaching..well it looked non-existent

  8. he needs a new coah, his new diet helped and now it's time to hire a former wsm to coach him, imo, champion tennis players hire champion tennis players to coach them when they seem to plateau and it gets them back to winning

  10. I really like seeing the guys lift random heavy objects, especially stuff I think strongmen would love to try and lift or would feel fortunate to have a chance to lift. Like how many pennies could you lift, how much beer could you carry, or a lift done the way the ancient people did it with ropes and pulleys and all that. That would be a cool theme. A WSM at the pyramids or one of those ancient sites like Stonehenge would be ultimate.

  17. WSM has a history, it takes place all over the world and happens just once a year. The Shaw Classic is basically the high elevation mountain strongman comp and I think that's where it will always take place. I think there's plenty of months in the year for all these competitions to co-exist, like the 4 tennis grand slams which are all equal. WSM can only defeat itself. If it becomes a competition with light events guys can speed through then it's no longer the WSM because clearly that's not what it's trying to find. If Shaw Classic is the comp with the most legit heavy events and gets all the top strongmen..well then if you want to know who the world's strongest man really is then look no further. This years Shaw Classic might just tell us who the WSM really is. The WSM competition is kinda turning into the world's fittest strongman comp because stamina and speed are such a factor. Another thing hurting WSM is the heats and tie-breaks. They gotta fix how that takes place. Shaw Classic is very straight-forward without the BS. I do wonder if some dirty games might be played to prevent Shaw Classic from getting all the top competitors there at the same times. At the end of the day though, the Shaw Classic should be bringing more fans to all the other strongman events. It's just more publicity. This isn't like a grocery store moving across the street from another grocery store. It's more like a grocery store moving to an area that needs a grocery store because the other store is an hour away.

  18. Brian and his red iron mad scientist are creating some very fun contraptions. I always look forward to seeing them. This might be the best show ever. You have all the TOP dogs (how many WSM champs?) lifting massive farm equipment and barrels and logs and the largest stones..it's legit. No groups and stone-offs and running through these events. Anyone think Brian will attempt a stone? I'm hoping he has a fun bonus grip challenge comp..grip gantlet.

  19. I'd love to see Brian trying to set world records after he retires. Grip records and a few static lifts, Millennium dumbbell particularly. Some coaching and armwrestling in between and really building up the Shaw Classic into the huge and highly respected competition it could be. I can see it happening in famous locations, places like Mount Rushmore, the Grand Canyon, Sequoia Forest, Niagara Falls..who knows. WSM just seems like a competition that will always take place at the beach now. haha I really want to see Tom and this next Shaw Classic. This will be one to remember.

  20. I think you're right about Brian being overly-careful which costs him. I've seen it a lot, but he knows his body. I mean he wraps his whole body up to prevent injury nowadays. I used to say that he needs to work on his technique like Martins who is a master at it..but there Martins is injured. haha heck so many are injured right now maybe because they're trying to speed up their lifts too much.

  25. It's terrible what WSM does to the actual fans. I mean airing it like this is only really for the folks that are flipping through channels. Fans want to see it live. With social media though and the popularity strongmen are getting on youtube though, I think change is coming. I'll try and just wait to see the results of each event when it airs. Anyone know if Brian Shaw is still putting together his own strongman competition?

  28. shaw has incredible grip strength, he grips the ungrippable, it's crazy seeing him not dominate those events, small guys are killing it now, watch brian's speech though, on his channel, love the guy

  36. After seeing JF doing those deadlifts and that hummer tire deadlift at the Shaw Classic..I almost thought he was bulletproof. What a beast! He's making the right decision. In life there's things like this that happen, like the universe deciding for you to move on to something else and if you listen to it everything works out.

  37. So STILL no Tom and now Licis...kinda weird. Unfortunate..anxiety and injuries I guess. Still, GREAT lineup and the Shaw Classic, as far as I'm concerned, is the heaviest most legit competition now. Heck there may be a day where there's a house filled with young Strongmen like that Ultimate Fighter show competing against each other. Brian Shaw and entertaining strongmen like yourself using social media are gonna bring this sport to the next level.

  38. With people like you, and athletes with such large personalities putting this sport out there with social media..I think the sport will get back to live TV broadcasts. Maybe I'm wrong but it's kinda felt like the sport went on life support for a bit, at least when covid hit. I can't recall ever watching it live but I do remember the days of watching it on TV when Met-RX and Ultimate Orange were basically the only two supplements on the market. haha Man that was fun to watch..the strongest men from around the world battling it out in front of people from the deepest corners of the world. It was like a strongman kumite/Bloodsport.

  39. This is crazy. We just saw a pro basketball player get beat up by a youtuber... I mean if it were the start of the UFC then yes I'd love to see it, but now it's a bit like watching that giant Bob Sapp fight skilled martial artists in Japan. A mess. I just hope it's not a big guy chasing around a boxer who picks his shots well and waits till Thor is tired so he can then KO him. Non-boxers seem to always fight like that. I'd rather see him be defensive and focus on countering.
