  37. I'm sure that as a CO he knows what's supposed to be done during a virus outbreak, these ships all deal with influenza etc and have plenty of practice. This virus kills but it's not knocking everyone into their racks, only a small percentage. And these are young able-bodies people best suited to beat it. They'll still have enough manpower to complete the mission. They can still fly out the critically sick and take in underway replenishment/food stores. It's nuclear, they can stay out there as long as they need. Social distancing is impossible-so they ALL have it, medical will be swamped, but you deal with it. They'll give you motrin and water like every other branch does. But you can't just head for port and dump everyone out. Right now they're in a virus incubator but also all in quarantine. He violated OPSEC and he broke the chain of command by going around the Battle Group Commander. Does he not think other ships are dealing with this virus as well? Everyone's dealing with it. I hate seeing CO's get relieved for stupid reasons because of it's effect on the crew but if he's spewing his guts to outsiders about how weakened his crew is then he put them in more danger than any virus. And he said "we're not at war" as if that matters...that mindset is not the mindset of a Commanding Officer. We're always on the brink of war and always fighting an enemy and have to always be ready for that. I'm sure he had good intentions but probably freaked the hell out. That's a very tough job even without the virus, but you follow your orders.
