they can't survive on their own, might as well be "owned" by the u.s., this wouldn't be so pertinent if china and russia weren't circling like sharks, u.s. ownership vs china and russia exploiting it and buying the land up..and using it for God knows what, so in the meantime china grows more powerful, denmark keeps footing their bill, america spends money protecting it..and for what? it's a bit like paying your adult son's car insurance and rent while they spend their paycheck on clubbing
greenlanders want to be free of danish rule, want protection, want to keep their culture in tact and land clean while utilizing their resources and have a future, the u.s. can ensure that better than any other nation, the island can't just sit there, it's like that empty wooded lot you have creating a buffer between you and the city, either buy it up and preserve it or someone will bulldoze it and "develop" it
