I'd rather build a square or a silo. Actually I'd rather just reforest the desert, and yes it can be done. The great green wall is growing.

our fathers and grandfathers will warn us, but we will never listen, we just have to find out for ourselves, I bet that most serving right now have a direct family member that served, but there are many ways to serve our nation that don't involve having to kill, people in those positions really do not get the credit they deserve

check out The Climb as well.

This is nothing. Many older folks have been getting up at 4am for half their lives. Hell my mother wakes up at 3:45am. Anyway it just matters how long you sleep. Don't sleep the day away and try to catch a sunset and sunrise when you can. Getting up before everyone else is impossible, but it can feel good knowing you're up and ready to rock while they're lying in a weakened state.

when wars break out, this is the stuff I worry about getting destroyed..well aside from people, obviously

my mother is 65 and has been waking up at 4:20 for years, I'm guessing women usually wake up earlier than guys because of the whole makeup-outfit thing takes so long, but yeah it feels good to wake up early and have the world to yourself..at least for a few minutes, it's beautiful, plus you're alert while everyone else is zombiefied, even when camping you'll see dudes competing to wake up first, it's funny, like that dude is the winner

Plastic has gotten us so far, and it'll probably be our demise.

Yeah back in the day it was a huge deal to climb Everest, the money and funding and all the equipment and fit experienced team members you had to get together, and the journey and experience even to reach the mountain was crazy. I mean the conditions were so terrible that you'd be sick by the time you made base camp. I don't even understand the draw that people have to Everest anymore. The icefall is the biggest danger and surviving that is luck more than skill and you'll still be climbing something even men without legs have climbed. Hey did you know that the occultist Alleister Crowley was a mountain climber and was the first to attempt K2? Anyway, crazy stuff. @PhilAndersonOutside

yeah, but what about ugly cars? clearly they're not spending any time with clay designing those monstrosities really impressive seeing them seating the hard parts into the clay model, I wonder how symmetrical it all is, the great thing about clay is you're looking at this long enough to understand what you don't like and want to improve, it's like oil painters who will hang their painting up unfinished so over time they can make adjustments if need be, things they never saw while initially working on the painting

The rise in cost won't help anything in terms of saving lives. Let's face it, Everest is the RICH people's mountain. That South Col is nothing compared to most other climbs. The rich aren't aiming for K2 or Annapurna. They're aiming for an Everest ascent to brag about. They need to just raise the standards of those allowed to touch that mountain. There's no reason why the tallest mountain should ever be touched by someone who hasn't even climbed a 8,000 meter peak. Still, they let 80 year olds, teenagers, amputees, BLIND people climb that mountain...and who's fault is that? They're taking huge risks for more money. You can't just blame wealthy westerners. I mean, they're not sneaking onto that mountain. They're doing what they're for some reason allowed to do. They're standing in a giant line on Everest freezing their toes off because it's overbooked. One day a storm will hit when they're all clinging to that mountain in the death zone and there will be a Titanic level disaster that will change it..but until then nothing meaningful will change. It takes a lot of death to improve things.

You call, get just enough time to say you made it safely, then the phone is put away until boot camp is over. Maybe once or twice you could get rewarded with time for a call home. We literally signed a waiver to take an experimental pneumonia vaccine for a 2 or 5 minute phone call from a pay phone. It was cute, many got very sick. Back in 2001. All our mail was searched through due to the anthrax attacks. People forget about the 9/11 anthrax attacks.

Yeah, you see it all the time in survival shows for example, if you have 1 person who's a downer and pessimistic, then that mfr has got to go. He'll bring everyone down. Your situation sucks, whatever, laugh about it, it won't last forever. Over time your body gets stronger, you acclimate to the environment and routine and you gain respect. You think you got it bad? Check out those 4 kids that survived 40 days in a jungle.
